Thought we were combative first half but Antwi very poor. Whitmore and Lloyd had to carry him at times. New lad at right wing back very quick and lively and keeper did pretty well alongside the odd wobble when we played from the back. CBR tried his best but looks a passenger every game. Glennon and Kamwa some threat during first half. 2nd half whilst I couldn't fault the effort we were hanging on Millwall slowly but surely controlled the game and our passing more and more wayward. Our legs went a bit in the last 30 mins and it was good to see Brennan make a return. Overall a good effort but for long spells there only really looked to be one winner

Overall a good effort but for long spells there only really looked to be one winner That's a pretty good summation. Think the defence looked composed most of the game. There was a bit of 'alamo' defending but it seems to be reducing game by game. Impressed by Ogunneye. Looked technically good and looked a bit feisty, which you often don't see with kids. Think there are more positives than negatives from the overall performance of the team.
I don't know whether anyone else is getting this sensation prior to a game. Last season I approached every home game with dread, because at times County were so poor in everything they did. I swear the only thing that thing that made me go to many of the games was the fact i'd purchased my first season ticket and having paid for the games, i may as well go see them. This season I've been looking forward to both home games and enjoyed both games. Perhaps its because i haven't been viewing them through hands in front of my face, or the feeling that things can't get any worse - and then they do.
So decent performance, result doesn't really matter in the large scale of things and things seem to be improving from game to game. In Hughes we trust...

Last season I turned up to most home games with my heart telling me we were going to improve, unfortunately my head telling me the opposite. This season the lads have shown more commitment in the 2 home games than they did the whole of last season. Long may it continue. Fans right behind the team tonight also. Haven't had as good as atmosphere for a long time.

Wouldn't have thought there was a 2 division gap last night But we didn't trouble their keeper did we Apart from the header from Clarke and the mad scramble, no we didn’t and I think that’s our big problem atm. CBR was a bit unlucky with his effort that the sting was taken out of his effort by catching the defenders leg but in truth most of the time we’re carrying him. Apart from that huge problem, the side looks full of will and fight and the defence looks much stronger with Clarke and Jenkins at its heart. Whitmore seems to be contributing more and more to the side though Antwi even though he appears skilful is atm a lazy luxury. No team can carry two players! Uptick is that all seems an improvement on last season apart from that and the fans can see that.

How did Glennon do? I've got this strange feeling that he might come good and become a useful player to have in the squad.

Why is the wrong attendance being reported everywhere? Not the first time I've noticed this.

Not easy being uptop on your own a lot of the time. We don't play to his strengths which is making space upfront for the goalscorer, that we haven't got. We all thought he was excellent in his last spell with us doing that. I observe him chasing lost causes for the ball, due to us playing relatively deep. A bit unfair on the lad, hope he doesn't read this forum.

What it says to me is we need a bigger, physical specimen as an improvement/ alternative to himself as a targetman. Much talk has been made of our need of a 'midfield bastard', although I personally would like to see a 'physical big bastard' up top also.

I usually give CBR a hard time but in fairness County are not playing a game that suits him. In fact the reason County didn't trouble the opposition GK last night was that the two players 'up top' were being asked to play a game that is alien to them. Kamwa is not a striker, he's a winger and CBR is not evidently not a target man and so comes off badly when being asked to play a physical game against taller and more physical opponents. If County are going to persist with a long-ball tactic to a front two then they really are going to have to find someone that can match the physicality of seasoned central defenders, or if they cannot do that then evolve their game to suit the players available.
But it's all a process. I think the priorities they have been working to is 1) to make the defence more parsimonious, 2) have a functioning midfield, and 3) find a potent strike force. With a few games into the season it appears that 1) is looking almost complete, though a bit uncomposed at times, 2) starting to take shape, but with some work-ons and 3) not started on. Perhaps we should worry less about having a complete football side at this stage of the season and accept that the new management team had a wreak of a squad to work with when they came in. There seems to be improvements game on game and the football season has only just began. Let's allow them time to work any magic.

I'm sure it is a far more realistic and attainable target and priority this season to significantly reduce the number of goals conceded that to increase the number scored compared to last season. Achieve that and it should put us clear of the relegation zone.

We didn’t play a game that suited CBR last year either mind. I think he’s more valuable than some give him credit for, but I still don’t understand why we broke the transfer model to sign him of all players.
